Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenHe entered the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. Alongside his appearance in the drama series that was released globally as The Killing, he subsequently played in two other internationally popular Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He also played a lead part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In American television series House of Cards, his role was that of the president of Russia. In the year 2018, he took home an International Emmy Award for his role as the president of Russia in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This was shown in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. In addition to his mother tongue Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English as well as mastering different accents. Mikkelsen said that his brother and he learned English initially by listening to Monty Python recordings and watching comedy sketches.
